डॉ. होमी भाभा राज्य विद्यापीठाच्या कुलगुरुपदी डॉ रजनीश कामत यांची नियुक्ती

राज्यातील पहिले समूह विद्यापीठ असलेल्या डॉ. होमी भाभा राज्य विद्यापीठाच्या कुलगुरुपदी डॉ रजनीश कमलाकर कामत यांची नियुक्ती करण्यात आली आहे.

कोल्हापूर येथील शिवाजी विद्यापीठाच्या विज्ञान व तंत्रज्ञान विद्याशाखेचे प्रभारी अधिष्ठाता तसेच इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स विभागात वरिष्ठ प्राध्यापक असलेल्या डॉ कामत यांची नियुक्ती पाच वर्षांच्या कालावधीसाठी करण्यात आली आहे.

राज्यपाल तथा विद्यापीठाचे कुलपती भगतसिंह कोश्यारी यांनी डॉ रजनीश कामत यांची नियुक्ती जाहीर केली.

डॉ कामत यांनी शिवाजी विद्यापीठातून इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स विषयात एम.एससी. तसेच गोवा विद्यापीठातून पीएच.डी. प्राप्त केली असून त्यांना अध्यापन, संशोधन व प्रशासनाचा व्यापक अनुभव आहे. डॉ कामत यांच्या १६४ संशोधन पत्रिका आंतरराष्ट्रीय जर्नल्समध्ये प्रसिद्ध झाल्या असून त्यांची १५ पुस्तके व प्रकरणे देखील प्रकाशित झाली आहेत.

कुलगुरु नियुक्तीसाठी राज्यपालांनी छत्तीसगड उच्च न्यायालयाचे सेवानिवृत्त न्यायमूर्ती यतींद्र सिंह यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली निवड समिती गठीत केली होती. पुणे येथील भारतीय माहिती तंत्रज्ञान संस्थेचे संचालक प्रा. अनुपम शुक्ल व शासनाचे प्रधान सचिव ओम प्रकाश गुप्ता समितीचे सदस्य होते. समितीने शिफारस केलेल्या उमेदवारांच्या मुलाखती घेतल्यानंतर राज्यपालांनी डॉ कामत यांची निवड केली.

डॉ होमी भाभा समूह विद्यापीठामध्ये एल्फिन्स्टन महाविद्यालय, सिडनहॅम महाविद्यालय, माध्यमिक प्रशिक्षण महाविद्यालय व शासकीय विज्ञान संस्था या ४ संस्थांचा समावेश आहे.

*Dr Rajanish Kamat to be new VC of Dr. Homi Bhabha State University*

Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of Universities Bhagat Singh Koshyari today appointed Dr Rajanish Kamalakar Kamat as the new Vice Chancellor of the Dr. Homi Bhabha State University (HBSU), the first cluster university of the State.

Dr Kamat is presently serving as Senior Professor in Electronics and In Charge Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has been appointed as Vice Chancellor for a term of 5 years from the date he assumes the charge of the office of vice chancellor.

Dr Kamat holds an M.Sc. (Electronics) from Shivaji University and Ph.D. from Goa University. He has vast experience of teaching, research and administration.

The Governor had constituted a Search Committee under the chairmanship of Justice Yatindra Singh (Retd), Former Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High court to recommend to him a panel of names suitable for appointment of the Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Anupam Shukla, Director, Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIT), Pune and Om Prakash Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Government of Maharashtra were members of the Committee.

The Governor announced the name of Dr Kamat after interviewing all candidates recommended by the panel

The Homi Bhabha State University has under its aegis the Elphinstone College, Sydenham College, Secondary Training College and The Institute of Science.
